A Bible-Centered, Family-Oriented Ministry

WelcomeHarvest Hills Baptist Church is located in Northwest Oklahoma City.  We just recently completed a 1.2 million dollar building/expansion program—debt free.  Although the church is not a large church in comparison with the many “mega churches” that have sprung up in recent years, it is a church that is constantly buzzing with activity.  It has a variety of programs and ministries designed to help meet the spiritual needs of its church family.  One of these ministries is Harvest Hills Christian School, a school that seeks to provide a quality Christian education for boys and girls in 4-year kindergarten through the 12th grade.

If you will take a few minutes to browse our website, you will see that we offer many opportunities for children, young people, and adults to grow in their walk with the Lord and in their service for Him.  We firmly believe that the mission of the local church has never changed.  Two words sum up that mission quite well:  evangelism and edification—all for the glory of God.

Evangelism

Just before the Lord Jesus Christ ascended back to Heaven forty days after His bodily resurrection from the dead, He told His followers: “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) That is a mandate that we are to faithfully obey until He returns.  It is both an honor and a privilege to be  “ambassadors for Christ” (II Corinthians 5:20).

Edification

In Matthew 28:19-20 we’re told to not only lead others to Jesus Christ, but also to be sure we follow up that evangelism with edification.  Jesus said, “teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”  This is what discipleship is all about, and this is what Harvest Hills Baptist Church and Christian School is all about—whether the action is in the sanctuary, a classroom, the cafeteria, or the gymnasium.

Harvest Hills Baptist Church is an independent, Bible-believing Baptist church.  That means it is not a member of any official church denomination or organization, but is rather a “self-governing” Baptist church.  Rev. Larry Karsies has served as the pastor of HHBC for the past twenty years.  During those years, the church has, under his leadership, experienced slow but steady growth.  In 2002, the church called Rev. John Heffernan to serve as its assistant pastor.  He has faithfully served along-side Pastor Karsies in many areas of the church’s ministries.
